Home automation at the service of your security

Home automation at the service of your security

smart home, smart shop.

If many households decide to equip themselves with home automation to make their lives easier, they are also more and more to choose it to feel safer at home. Here's how home automation can work for your security:

Home automation protects you from intrusions: thanks to the automatic programming of the lighting but also to control the opening and closing of your shutters, the home automation can easily simulate your presence when you are absent and, as a result, deter possible burglars.

Home automation protects you from fires: fires are very often devastating and to avoid the worst, it is necessary to act as quickly as possible. Since 2015, all housing must be equipped with a DAAF (Detector Alarm Smoke Independent). The connected smoke detectors will work in the same way except that they will be connected to your smartphone or tablet permanently to allow you to act as quickly as possible. Similarly, with a connected smoke detector, you can program the ideal scenario to evacuate the premises in the safest way (automatic lighting of the lights, unlocking the house, opening the garage, etc.).

Home automation protects you from flooding: water damage or flooding is less common than a burglary or fire. However, do not underestimate these risks and anticipate possible incidents. For this purpose, you can equip your home with small detectors placed approximately 80 centimeters from the ground in the rooms at risk (bathroom, laundry, kitchen ...). As soon as the sensor senses an abnormal degree of humidity, you are immediately notified.
If an incident is detected inside your home (intrusion, flood, fire, carbon monoxide leakage), home automation can alert you and a security company directly connected to your case.

How does it work?

Thanks to the Wifi (or 4 G), to the electric network, to the radio waves or to a wiring system, your electrical equipments are all connected to each other and controlled by a central control.

This one will receive the information transmitted by your various equipments, to analyze them and according to the situation, to initiate the scenarios which you will have previously defined. These are as diverse as the dangers may be: in the case of a burglary, the control center will not only alert you, it may at the same time trigger an alarm, possibly guide the cameras to film the thugs or trigger the automatic closing of your shutters according to what you have previously defined. Likewise, if you find yourself at your vacation spot that you forgot to lock a door or close a window, you can send a signal to the control panel from your tablet or phone so that it is done automatically.

How much does it cost ?
Home automation systems and accessories dedicated to security are multiple and the cost of your installation will depend on the equipment chosen.

However, for basic equipment including the central control and an alarm, plan on average 200 euros. To this it will add about 50 euros for a motion detector and 80 euros for a camera.

Automation of the opening of my shutters: what advantages and what disadvantages?
Automating the opening of your shutters has many advantages but also some limitations that should be known before engaging in work. Here are some guidelines to help you make the right choice:

ZOOM ON THE BENEFITS OF SHUTTER AUTOMATION

Automating your shutters will simplify your life: once connected to the home automation, your shutters will no longer require any action on your part to open or close since you can schedule them at the times you want. Depending on the weather and the seasons, they will adapt to the rhythm of your life.

Automating your shutters will be an added security for you and your property: when you leave, the automatic opening and closing of your shutters can simulate a presence and, as a result, deter potential burglars. Thus, you can decide to schedule their opening only on weekends or every day of the week for example.

Automating your shutters will allow you to control your entire house: whatever the size of your home, you will not have to control one by one each part of your home because you can control them all at the same time and this, no matter where you are.
